You need to ask your self first “Do you need that feature?” But, what I’ve done is just buy the application and learn how to do things differently to create a similar feature. That’s the first thing that you need to accept when migrating to Affinity Designer. Some tools that Illustrator offers may not available in Affinity Designer. I used to ‘YouTube’ anything I wanted to know and looking for the forum’s help was also useful enough. Migrating from Adobe Illustrator to Affinity Designer is also easy. You can now say there’s the ice cream, and within the timeline, I’ve got all my layers from Adobe Illustrator, so now I’m ready to animate.Man Using a Laptop drawn using Affinity Designer. ![]() To ensure that the illustrator layers come in layers in After Effects and to the same size, I’m going to change the import to ‘Composition – Retain Layer Sizes.’ Click on imports, and in the project panel, I can double-click on the ice cream composition to open it up. In After Effects, I can double-click in the project panel and select the illustrator file. With the artwork separated into individual layers, I can now animate them, and I’m going to save the document by pressing Ctrl-S command-S. Next, I’m going to rename the layers by double-clicking on their current name. Layer one is now empty that was the original layer which I will drag down to the dustbin. Now they are like normal layers, and I can delete layer one. Click on layer two, hold down the shift key, click on layer six, release the shift key, and click and drag them up and above layer one. That will then convert them into layers, but they are trapped within layer one. With layer one selected, I’ll come into the little menu in the corner and then I can choose the ‘release to layers’ sequence. For the stick, I need to separate them into their own layers. If I open up layer one by clicking on this little arrow here, I can see I’ve got all my pieces within layer one so that I can animate each part of the ice cream, like the top, the two drips, and the vanilla bits at the bottom.
